Expert Door Fitting

External Door Fitters in Ascot

We fit external doors for homeowners across Ascot. On properties where the door needs to look right as much as function right, we take the time to assess the opening properly, advise on what will suit the house and fit the door so the finish matches the quality of the property.

External Doors We Fit in Ascot

Ascot has a high proportion of larger detached properties where a standard off-the-shelf door often does not suit the scale or style of the house. We fit solid timber front doors, composite doors, French doors, patio doors and stable doors. Where the opening is wider, taller or deeper than standard, we advise on made-to-measure options and what that means for lead time and cost before anything is committed to.

Front Doors

Strong, secure and the first thing anyone sees. We fit front doors on all property types, from straightforward replacements to non-standard openings where the frame needs attention first.

Timber Front Doors

A natural choice for period properties and homes where composite does not suit the look. We fit solid timber front doors and advise on sizes whether stock or made to measure.

Composite / uPVC Doors

Low maintenance, weather resistant and available in a wide range of styles. The most common choice for front door replacements across the areas we cover.

French Doors

Two-door sets that open outward and work well at the back of a property where you want more light and access to the garden. We fit and align both leaves so they close and lock cleanly.

Patio Doors

liding or hinged rear doors that open up a room without needing swing space. We check the frame and threshold carefully on these as the weight and movement puts more demand on the fitting.

Other External Doors

Not seeing your door type here? We fit stable doors, side access doors, bi-fold doors and more. If you are not sure what you need, tell us what you have and we will advise.

External Door Fitting in Ascot

On a larger property the fitting process takes longer and demands more care. Wider openings need accurate measurement across multiple points, not just top and bottom. Heavier doors need hinge positions set to carry the load correctly. We check the frame condition and the rebate before measuring, hang the door level with consistent gaps on all sides, set the weatherstrip and threshold seal and test the lock under the full weight of the door closed. Nothing is rushed.

Trusted External Door Fitters in Ascot

The properties we work on in Ascot are often ones where the homeowner has invested significantly in the house and wants the door to reflect that. A poorly fitted door on a high-end property stands out immediately, the gaps are uneven, the door pulls slightly when it closes or the lock does not engage cleanly. These are not minor issues on a door that cost several thousand pounds. We have fitted doors on properties in this area where the opening was wider than any stock size, where the reveal depth required a custom frame solution and where the surrounding stonework needed protecting throughout the installation. That kind of job requires experience and patience. We give an honest price before starting, arrive when agreed and work with the care the property requires.

Frequently asked questions

Frequently asked questions

Getting Started

I want a front door that suits a large detached property in Ascot. Where do I start?
Start with the opening. We measure accurately and tell you what sizes are available before you start looking at styles. On larger properties the opening is often wider or taller than standard, which narrows down the options to made-to-measure. Knowing that upfront saves time and avoids ordering a door that does not fit.
I am considering a solid hardwood front door. What do I need to know about fitting one?
Hardwood doors are considerably heavier than composite and the frame has to be in excellent condition to take the fixings correctly. Hinge positions are critical on a heavy door. Get them wrong and the door will pull within a year regardless of the quality of the door itself. We check the frame thoroughly before agreeing to fit a heavy timber door and we set the hinges to carry the weight from the start.
My property in Ascot is a newer build. Are there any restrictions on changing the front door?
Some newer developments in Ascot have covenants or estate management rules that restrict changes to the external appearance of properties. These are separate from planning permission and are set by the developer or management company. It is worth checking your deeds or contacting the estate management before ordering a door. Windsor and Maidenhead Council can confirm if there are any planning restrictions on top of that.
How do you protect the surrounding stonework or render when fitting a new door?
We work carefully around the existing structure and use protection where needed. On properties where the door sits within a stone surround or decorative render, we take particular care when removing the old door and frame to avoid damage. If we think there is a risk to the surrounding finish, we tell you before starting so you can decide how you want to proceed.
What security standard should a front door on a high value property meet?
At minimum a multipoint lock with a cylinder that meets TS007 3-star rating. For higher security, a door certified to PAS 24 or Secured by Design standard gives additional resistance to forced entry and is often specified by insurers on higher value properties. We can advise on what is available and fit to the standard you need.
How is the price worked out on a larger or more complex job in Ascot?
Based on the door, the frame condition, the opening size and any additional work on the threshold or surrounding structure. On larger properties where the door is heavier or non-standard the assessment takes longer and we factor that in. The price is fixed once we have seen the job.
